Heat Pumps
Thank you very much for your inquiry into heat pump servicing.
I like to advise my customers to get their heat pumps serviced annually and this is not to be mistaken with other companies that are offering heat pump cleaning.
The way a heat pump works is all about energy transfer in most cases we want to be warm in the winter and on those really hot nor-west days we may want to cool down.
So a heat pump has two heat exchangers one inside and one outside. The indoor one has filters and people should wash these once a month or so but dust particles are small enough to get thru these filters and if they are blocked the fans can suck the dust thru the filters and on to the indoor heat exchanger.
In any case both the heat exchangers get dirty and I dismantle the indoor unit and vacuum the fins wash them with commercial coil cleaner and then rinse them with water. This then goes down the drain to clean and make sure it is clear. The outside one is checked and if dirty enough can get the same treatment but usually not required as a brush out will usually do. Out door plants are the biggest problem with overgrowth and this will be commented on.
While I'm at it and as part of the service I bring the filters back to new condition I do a visual check your pipe connections for gas leaks, wiring connections for hot spots or loose connections and fan motor bearings.
After that I do a performance test by running the heat pump and taking it's temperature this relates back to the refrigerant type and can give an accurate guage of the gas charge in the system. This all takes about 40 minutes and I charge $99.00Contact us for a quote or ask me a technical question EMAIL ME
